Into the Heart of the Occitan Valleys
Ride across Valle Varaita, Valle Maira, Valle Grana and Valle Stura on a multi-day Enduro MTB adventure through the wild Occitan Alps. Natural singletracks, technical descents and 4×4 bike shuttles connect four remote valleys, offering authentic riding far from crowded bike parks.
Natural Trails. Serious All-Mountain Riding
This is all-mountain riding in its most authentic form. Long descents, technical S2/S3 singletracks, rocky sections and ancient mule tracks create constantly changing terrain, from high Alpine ridgelines to remote valleys and forest trails. The real difference lies in how these trails are connected. Drawing on years of local riding experience, we select the best routes and link them into complete days shaped around the group, weather, trail conditions, available time and seasonal access. Every stage is carefully planned to make the most of the terrain, combining the finest descents with efficient connections, strategic shuttles and the right timing. The result is a fluid mountain journey through some of the best and least-known all-mountain trails in the Occitan Alps.
The trails of Valle Varaita, Valle Maira, Valle Grana and Valle Stura were not built for mountain bikes. For centuries, they connected villages, mountain pastures, high passes and communities across the Occitan Alps. Ancient mule tracks and forgotten paths cross a landscape marked by historic military roads, fortifications and the remains of a frontier shaped by centuries of conflict. Today, this extraordinary network offers unforgettable mountain biking, with every trail revealing a different part of the region’s history. Ride through abandoned hamlets, remote forests and high mountain passes, discovering a side of the Western Alps where local culture, history and technical riding are inseparable. These are more than trails to ride. They are ancient routes through the mountains, rediscovered on two wheels.
A complete all-mountain and enduro journey is not only about finding exceptional trails. It is about knowing how to connect them in the right way. Our 4×4 bike shuttles are used strategically to reach remote trailheads, gain altitude and link riding areas across the four valleys, leaving more time and energy for the descents that make the journey unforgettable. Accommodation, luggage transfers, local logistics and daily route planning can all be organized around the tour. Our knowledge of the territory allows every stage to be adapted to trail conditions, weather, timing and the group’s riding level. The result is a seamless multi-day mountain adventure without the logistical headache. You ride the trails, explore the mountains and enjoy the journey. We take care of everything that makes it possible.
Where you stay and eat is an essential part of every WolfTrails journey. We select accommodation for outstanding service, comfort and character, often choosing hidden local gems over better-known locations. From authentic mountain stays to premium hotels and dining, every detail can be tailored to your group.
No. This is the original WolfTrails Occitan Valleys Enduro Tour, independently created in 2023 and operated under this name since 2024. “Occitan Valleys” is a geographical term and may naturally be used by other operators, but our tour is not connected with any other rally, event or itinerary. Every WolfTrails experience is genuinely tailor-made around your group’s riding skills, preferred terrain, pace and requests, rather than following a fixed-format programme.
How are the routes selected for the Occitan Valleys Enduro Tour?
There is no single fixed itinerary. Each day is planned across Valle Varaita, Valle Maira, Valle Grana and Valle Stura according to the group’s technical level, weather, trail conditions and seasonal access. This flexibility allows us to select the best natural singletracks available during the tour.
How does the 4×4 bike shuttle support work?
The 4×4 shuttle is used strategically to reach remote trailheads, gain altitude and connect riding areas across the four valleys. It reduces road transfers and repetitive climbs while leaving pedalling, traversing and genuine mountain riding as essential parts of each day.
What technical level is required for the Occitan Valleys Enduro Tour?
The tour is designed for intermediate-to-advanced riders comfortable on natural S2–S3 terrain. Expect rocky sections, roots, narrow mule tracks, exposed parts and long descents with changing grip. Routes can be adjusted to the group, while always preserving the All-Mountain and Enduro character of the experience.
