Planning how to reach the Italian Alps depends on the selected tour. WolfTrails operates from Bardonecchia and the Cuneo valleys to the French border and the Mediterranean coast, so every journey has its own meeting point and travel plan.

Private transfers are arranged through trusted, licensed drivers at an agreed rate and paid directly to the transport provider. Depending on the itinerary and group size, suitable vehicles can be organised for riders, bicycles, bike boxes and luggage.

Rail & Road Connections

Many starting points can be reached by train or private vehicle through Turin, Cuneo, Bardonecchia, Ventimiglia and the Roya Valley. The spectacular Ferrovia delle Meraviglie is more than a connection: crossing the mountains between Italy and France, it is an experience worth enjoying in its own right. Detailed directions and the most suitable arrival station are provided once the tour is confirmed.

The private transfer from Nice Côte d’Azur Airport to Limone Piemonte normally takes approximately two and a half hours. Travel time can vary depending on coastal traffic, the selected route and conditions around the Colle di Tenda, so sufficient flexibility should always be included in the arrival plan.

How long does it take to reach Bardonecchia from Nice?

The journey from Nice Airport to Bardonecchia takes approximately four hours, depending on traffic and the selected route. It is a significant transfer, but a worthwhile gateway to the high Western Alps. For this reason, Bardonecchia is particularly well suited to longer multi-day tours.

How long are transfers to the other WolfTrails destinations?

Approximate transfer times from Nice Airport to Western Liguria generally requires one to two hours, while the Cuneo valleys, Valle Maira and Bardonecchia involve longer journeys. Exact times depend on the final itinerary and current road conditions.

What time should my flight arrive in Nice?

For tours beginning in Limone Piemonte, flights arriving by approximately 5:00 pm are usually manageable. For more distant destinations, such as Valle Maira or Bardonecchia, arrival by lunchtime is strongly recommended. After a late flight, the best solution is often to stay overnight in Nice and arrange a relaxed collection the following morning.

Can a tour start and finish in different places?

Yes. Many WolfTrails adventures are linear journeys connecting different Alpine valleys or travelling from the mountains to the Mediterranean. Arrival, luggage transport and departure logistics are planned around the itinerary, using private transfers or railway connections where necessary. What happens if my flight or train is delayed?

Contact us as soon as you become aware of a delay. We will try to adapt the collection plan, significant timetable changes may require a different vehicle or an additional transfer. Allowing sufficient time between connections is particularly important when travelling with bicycles and luggage.
